Our history

In current era the workplaces are more safer than it was in the 1950s. Every organisation has worked for the safety of their workers.

We are celebrating this year (2017) our 60th anniversary and you can get in touch about how we are celebrating the momentous milestone here.

Our founders were evangelical campaigners who helped transform the world way of life. Their efforts led directly to the groundbreaking 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act, as well as to the introduction of car seat belts.

We invite you to explore our great history with our new digital archive of long-lost posters, photographs, magazines and correspondence.

Our vision mission and aims fully reflect our charitable purposes. All of our activities, set out at Our charitable purposes are for public benefits.

Excellent Health and Safety standards are now a legal requirement in every aspect of British life.

In 2004 we became a government-regulated awarding organisation and have since developed a powerful suite of health and safety qualifications in the national framework. With our involvement in the Olympics, we were granted the official status of Supplier of health and safety training and consultancy services (ODA) to the London 2012 Games.

Our aim is to help professionals to achieve high standards of health safety and to protect their staff and the future of their businesses.
